Tsharpa Lochen Lama Thubten Choedak Rinpoche, is the founder and Spiritual Director of Sakya Losal Choe Dzong, Tibetan Buddhist Society of Canberra.

Born in Tibet he escaped to Nepal in the early 1960s with his parents and completed his secondary education in Nepal. He trained under the guidance of His Eminence Chogye Trichen Rinpoche and after eight years monastic training he completed a three and a half year meditation retreat on the Lamdre teachings sponsored by His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

Lama Choedak Rinpoche has taught in many Buddhist Centres worldwide and has translated for some of the most important teachers of all four traditions of Tibetan Buddhism including the late tutors of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

Rinpoche has published a number of books including "Lamdre - Dawn of Enlightenment" and a complete translation of Panchen Ngawang Choedak's "The Triple Tantra". Having graduated with a Lit.B. in Asian Studies from the Australian National University, he is currently working on a thesis on the Hevajra Tantra with the Department of Sociology in Newcastle University.
