Training the mind is the heart of the Buddhist path of awakening. Siddhartha's Intent Australia offers this weekend workshop with Jakob Leschly based on a short text summing up the essential points of the mind training practice of lojong. The text exists in book form with a commentary by Kyabjé Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche called Enlightened Courage. Friday 14th - 7pm - Public Talk Essential Buddhism2500 years ago the Indian Prince Siddhartha awoke to complete enlightenment, becoming known as the Buddha. In his teaching he taught a path of penetrating invalid assumptions, confusion, and destructive patterns in order to establish happiness and ultimate freedom. Saturday 15th - 10am-4pm - Buddhist Philosophy Laws of IllusionThe Buddha challenged our assumptions of permanence and absolutes, but at the same time observed that our world and experiences exist logically on the basis of conditions. We are naturally empowered to shape our reality, see through the constructions that bind us and recapture our innate heritage of enlightened qualities. An introduction to Buddhist perspectives and practice - Dzongsar Jamyang Khyentse Rinpoche.Sunday 16th - 10am-4pm - Buddhist Meditation Calm and InsightIn Buddhism, meditation is the structure of calm we provide to discover insight into the subtle realities of life and nature. The Buddha taught that to achieve happiness--and ultimately awakening to a mental state free of confusion and delusion--we need to be pro-active. It is we alone who can remove our own confusion and allow the mind to recover its natural condition. If we can step aside and let our mind simply be, we can begin to discover qualities such as gentleness, fearlessness, joy and kindness--our natural state. This does, however, require that we sit down and relate to ourselves and our world precisely and wholeheartedly, without our habitual haste - Jakob LeschlyVenue for all events: 3 Hackney Rd, Hackney Enquiries: Patrick Coghlan patrickcoghlan@yahoo.com.au 0423 325 406 Download the pamphlet with full details about the events (.pdf 1.6MB) Special thanks to: Buddha House (in particular the Buddha's Cafe group) and Shambhala Adelaide for their support for this event. |
