The Significance of the Five Buddhist Precepts
No matter how many meetings are held in the name of world peace, there will be no happiness until people abstain from harming others. Ethical conduct is not a ritualistic obedience to some exterior imposed code of behaviour. It is rather a healthy pattern of harmlessness, which you have consciously and voluntarily chosen because you recognise it is the key to extract your positive potential and the foundation of all happiness. facility fee $15 waged / $10 concession

A Celebration of the Birth, Enlightenment and Passing Away of the Buddha
Named after the month in which Buddha attained enlightenment some 26 centuries ago, the Buddhist world celebrates Vaishakha on the full moon of the fourth month of the lunar calendar.
The Life of The Buddha
The story of a human life grips us very directly. It is a case history of the condition we all share. We want to know where life can go, what can be made of it and how far its scope can extend. In the context of this basic questioning, the life of the Buddha is an immense landmark. He stepped out of the pattern that he had grown into and set out on a journey of discovery from which he never returned. Relentlessly, with unflagging courage and devotion, he followed the path pointed out by intelligence. He fully explored the true reach and range of reality. The result? A prince completely awoke from dreams and became a Buddha. facility fee $15 waged / $10 concession
Followed by a Sixteen Arhat Puja
The Tradition of honouring the Arhats is as old as Buddhism itself. Before Buddha passed away, he selected 16 Arhats to remain in the world and to protect the teachings. They were the earliest protectors of the teachings and are the earliest lineage masters of all Buddhist Traditions. This is a ritual performed by all four traditions of Tibetan Buddhism on full moon days and holy days to commemorate the enlightened activities of the Buddha.
Venue: Country Women’s Association – 30 Dequetteville Tce, Kent Town.
